At the end of last term we had a cook out at the Scout Hut and went to see ‘Move to the Beat’ in which some of our girls participated. This term the patrols have chosen their Go for Its to work on – ‘Camp Out’, ‘Flights of Fancy’, ‘Grrreen & ‘Globalistic’. We will be having another cook out, go ice skating, taking part in ‘That’s Entertainment’ and going to Blackland Farm for an Outdoor Activity & Water Safety day.  Six of our girls will be taking part in a Division Patrol camp at half term where they will have to cook for themselves for two days.  We also intend doing some community action and will finish the term with a Hippies party.

We now have 25 girls but we can take more so please get in touch if interested.  Guides are aged 10 to 14/15. For more information on Rainbows, Brownies and Guides visit the Girlguiding UK web site www.girlguiding.org.uk

Club Talk

During the second half of last term we held a Red Nose evening, made sweets and cards for Mother’s Day, had a Pack Holiday planning evening and finished the term with an Easter evening complete with Easter egg hunt.   During the Easter holidays, along with Brownies from Headley Cheam, we went on Pack holiday to Deer Park, near Cheltenham.  Our theme was chocolate!  The Brownies had a wide game where they had to make a new chocolate which they had to ‘sell’ to the leaders, did crafts, had a camp fire, went grass sledging, had a go on the trampoline and the traverse wall. We also had a day out at Bourton-on-the-Water where we visited the model village and Birdland.  And of course, we had a chocolate fountain.

This term we will be doing our Fire Safety badge and Guiding’s tartan challenge. We will be swimming at Cheam School, visiting Rose Hodson Court, taking part in ‘That’s Entertainment’ and having a Water Sports and Water Safety badge day at our training & activity centre, Blackland Farm, near East Grinstead.

This term we have welcomed one new Brownie, Jessica Pilbeam.  We still have places so if your daughter would like to come along and see what we do please give Sue (Brown Owl) a call.  Brownies are from age 7 to 10/11 but if your daughter is 5 or 6 we can put her name on our waiting list.

Club Talk

T.Y.C. Urban Saints Summer Camp 2007

On Friday 20th July when the worst weather for 150 years hit our area, ten of the "Tuesday Youth Club" went camping at Walkeridge Farm, Han-nington.
Altogether there were 85 children from 7-16 and 30 adult leaders and helpers. Despite the very wet start, tents were up and dry. After an eve-ning meeting with fantastic \\'orship, we all enjoyed a barbecue, games, football and a very late bed time.
The theme for our weekend was "Free 2 B". The children learnt that with God in their lives they are free to be the person God made them.
Food was always excellent with plenty of fresh fruit at each meal. During the weekend we enjoyed fun, games and activities. Crafts included mak-ing and decorating a photo frame and a huge material coliage of the camp-ing weekend.
On Saturday afternoon we had a big storm with a twister but the band in the marquee was so loud it drowned all sOlmds of thunder. In the evening we went in two coaches to the Aquadrome Basingstoke. We had it all to ourselves so no queuing. Someone lost all her clothes but luckily we found them in time to catch the coach. After cookies and hot chocolate we saw the film "Flushed Away" in the marquee. Lots of people fell asleep and had to be carried still fast asleep back to their tents.
On Sunday we had the best weather. There was an amazing talent contest; we discovered really talented children (and adults!) Parents joined us for the final talent show and a praise service. Awards were presented then an ice cream van arrived providing free ice cream for everyone. Then tea for the parents; pies, sausage rolls and wonderful cakes - and, of course, salad and fresh fruit. Charlie, an ex-baker, had spent many months preparing pies, pastries and cakes. Since last year prayers had been said for this weekend and God really blessed us.
Thank you God.

Kingsclere Youth Football Club

The Kingsclere Youth Football Club was formed in 1989 by Steve Clinch, who remains Life President of the club.

Boys and girls are welcomed to the club from the age of 6 years and spend two years learning basic skills before playing small-sided football in the Peter Houseman Youth League in our Under 9 and Under 10 teams.  From Under 8 to Under 15 we run 11 a-side teams, also in the Peter Houseman League, while the girls team plays in the small-sided league.

Saturday morning training is undertaken at various venues, whilst matches are played in Kingsclere at the Holding Field, The Fieldgate Centre and at St Michaels Field in Hannington.

footballThe club has a hard working committee which aims to raise funds through social events, including the annual awards night.  This ensures players have first class kit to play matches in (home strip Rrd and black, away strip (yellow and black), and that the correct equipment is always available.

The club maintains strict Child Protection measures and is proud of its tradition to encourage players of all abilities to play football in a true sporting manner.

Club Talk

The football season has now come to a successful conclusion with our Boys Under 14's winning their division and our U 11's finishing as runners up in their division. Our Under 12's and 13's have (as we go to press) come 3rd in their respective divisions and the Under 10's 4th.

Our four girls' teams have also had an enjoyable season and this section goes from strength to strength. We hope to get more village girls involved next year - anyone who might like to play should get in touch now.

Our annual awards night and Bar-B-Que takes place at the Fieldgate Centre on Friday 8 June from 6.00pm when all players will receive a medal or trophy and the league winners will be presented with their trophies. All past players and friends of the club are welcome to attend. We will also be signing on players for next season - subs have been held at existing levels. We are keen to secure more sponsors - if your company might be prepared to support the club in any way please contact us for more information.

The Lynden School of Dance

The Lynden School of Dance

The Lynden School of Dance has been established in Kingsclere since1982 and has branches in Basingstoke, Whitchurch & Overton. The curriculum follows The British Theatre Dance Association (BTDA) syllabus in Classical Ballet, Tap, and Modern/Jazz for children aged from 2½ years upwards.

Pupils are regularly entered for exams and medal tests and are offered opportunities to compete in area dance festival competitions.

Special emphasis is placed on performing on stage. It aims to ensure that all students have the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience. This helps to give them greater discipline and confidence, as well as giving them a real sense of achievement that the whole family can share.

All pupils are invited to take part in our bi-annual ‘Danceforce’ shows which are staged at either The Anvil or Haymarket Theatres, Basingstoke.

Over the past years, pupils have been fortunate enough to dance at major venues including: The London Palladium, Sadler’s Wells, The Theatre Royal, Her Majesty’s, and The Royal Albert Hall.  Many former students have gone on to dance professionally in West End productions and pursued their career dancing around the world.

The lessons take place at the Fieldgate Centre, Kingsclere during term time from 4:30pm to 8:00pm each Monday and Wednesday.  Visit us at www.lyndendance.co.uk for details or call 01635 297537 or e-mail lyndendance@aol.co.uk
