Club Talk

A big thank you to everyone who came along and helped us with our Jumble Sale on 20th October 2007.  Thank you too to the people who donated items and to everyone who came along and supported us. A total of £164.91 was raised which we hope to double up with a very kind offer of a donation from Vodafone.  The money will be used to assist with the cost of next year's Brownie Holiday in May.

Club Talk

2007 was a busy year for the Friday Pack!  During the year we have said goodbye to Zoe Baronius, Rebecka Cox and Lucy Richardson and we have welcomed Madeline Ashman, Annabelle Hill and Millie Karten.

During the Spring term we worked for the Artist Badge, held Valentine's Day, Red Nose Day and Easter evenings as well as holding a talent night.  Many of the Pack went to the County 'Fly the World' event in Basingstoke and gained their World Cultures badge.  During the summer term we held a 'Strictly_come Dancing' evening, a May Fair, went swimming at Cheam, took part in 'That's Entertainment' at St. Mary's, as well as working for the Wildlife Explorer and 'Right to be Me' badges.  We went to Blackland Farm in East Grinstead for our 'James Bond' Pack Holiday the wettest Pack Holiday ever - but everyone enjoyed themselves despite the rain and mud! Unfortunately, again due to the weather, we had to cancel our last meeting in July, which was to be our mothers & daughters evening.

We started this term by presenting Judy Lloyd, AKA 'Tawny Owl', with the Girlguiding UK Thanks Badge for her work as Unit Helper.  Well done Judy!  We entered the Division swimming gala and although not winning we did pick up a few certificates.  We've done lots of craft, held a Mexican evening and a Bonfire evening at Crazy Owl's house as well as taking part in the Remembrance Day Parade.  By the time you read this we would have held a Christmas Crafts evening, held our Christmas Bazaar, Christmas disco and finished term with a Party.

Spaces available in 2008
Next year we will be able to welcome new girls to Brownies as many of our girls will be ready to move on to Guides.  If you have a daughter who is 6 or 7 years old who would like to join Brownies please contact Brown Owl or Crazy Owl.  We would love to hear from you.

T.Y.C. Urban Saints Summer Camp 2007

On Friday 20th July when the worst weather for 150 years hit our area, ten of the "Tuesday Youth Club" went camping at Walkeridge Farm, Han-nington.
Altogether there were 85 children from 7-16 and 30 adult leaders and helpers. Despite the very wet start, tents were up and dry. After an eve-ning meeting with fantastic \\'orship, we all enjoyed a barbecue, games, football and a very late bed time.
The theme for our weekend was "Free 2 B". The children learnt that with God in their lives they are free to be the person God made them.
Food was always excellent with plenty of fresh fruit at each meal. During the weekend we enjoyed fun, games and activities. Crafts included mak-ing and decorating a photo frame and a huge material coliage of the camp-ing weekend.
On Saturday afternoon we had a big storm with a twister but the band in the marquee was so loud it drowned all sOlmds of thunder. In the evening we went in two coaches to the Aquadrome Basingstoke. We had it all to ourselves so no queuing. Someone lost all her clothes but luckily we found them in time to catch the coach. After cookies and hot chocolate we saw the film "Flushed Away" in the marquee. Lots of people fell asleep and had to be carried still fast asleep back to their tents.
On Sunday we had the best weather. There was an amazing talent contest; we discovered really talented children (and adults!) Parents joined us for the final talent show and a praise service. Awards were presented then an ice cream van arrived providing free ice cream for everyone. Then tea for the parents; pies, sausage rolls and wonderful cakes - and, of course, salad and fresh fruit. Charlie, an ex-baker, had spent many months preparing pies, pastries and cakes. Since last year prayers had been said for this weekend and God really blessed us.
Thank you God.

Kingsclere Youth Football Club

The Kingsclere Youth Football Club was formed in 1989 by Steve Clinch, who remains Life President of the club.

Boys and girls are welcomed to the club from the age of 6 years and spend two years learning basic skills before playing small-sided football in the Peter Houseman Youth League in our Under 9 and Under 10 teams.  From Under 8 to Under 15 we run 11 a-side teams, also in the Peter Houseman League, while the girls team plays in the small-sided league.

Saturday morning training is undertaken at various venues, whilst matches are played in Kingsclere at the Holding Field, The Fieldgate Centre and at St Michaels Field in Hannington.

footballThe club has a hard working committee which aims to raise funds through social events, including the annual awards night.  This ensures players have first class kit to play matches in (home strip Rrd and black, away strip (yellow and black), and that the correct equipment is always available.

The club maintains strict Child Protection measures and is proud of its tradition to encourage players of all abilities to play football in a true sporting manner.

Club Talk

The football season has now come to a successful conclusion with our Boys Under 14's winning their division and our U 11's finishing as runners up in their division. Our Under 12's and 13's have (as we go to press) come 3rd in their respective divisions and the Under 10's 4th.

Our four girls' teams have also had an enjoyable season and this section goes from strength to strength. We hope to get more village girls involved next year - anyone who might like to play should get in touch now.

Our annual awards night and Bar-B-Que takes place at the Fieldgate Centre on Friday 8 June from 6.00pm when all players will receive a medal or trophy and the league winners will be presented with their trophies. All past players and friends of the club are welcome to attend. We will also be signing on players for next season - subs have been held at existing levels. We are keen to secure more sponsors - if your company might be prepared to support the club in any way please contact us for more information.
