Care Group Drivers
There are currently nine care group drivers and on average they get 13 requests a week for transport to the surgery or hospital. At holiday time especially, the drivers are hard pressed to assist all those who need help.
Time on surgery runs is relatively short but the hospital run can take some time, especially if blood tests or xrays are required at the consultation. However, it is a good thing when all these things are done at one visit and there is always the book stall and cafe to while away the time or catch up with letter writing or reading a book. Sometimes the drivers accompany patients if they wish and they are always appreciative. It is often the older generation who use the service and they are so interesting to talk to, with many good stories to tell.
More volunteers are always needed! You can do as many or as few journeys as you want and will be paid by the mile, just enough to cover the cost of fuel.
If you could volunteer a morning or afternoon occasionally, please contact Don Freeman on 298727 for more information.

It has an excellent children's library, a good but small reference section, and an HCC Information Point plus its own computer system on-line to the County systems. The access card is valid at any Hampshire library. Tadley has a slightly larger library at Mulfords Hill and the main library is in the Basingstoke Town Centre. This has a very large reference library and a wide range of other resources.
